Planning a big night out on the town?
East Bay and Market St-

Picture
There are two main areas of downtown Charleston. Market and East Bay, and 'Upper King'.  The Market area has a lot to offer and seems to be one of the favored areas for Bachelor and Bachelorette parties. Some of the more popular bars in that area are Henry's, NV, Market Street Saloon, and Mad River. Once you turn the corner onto East Bay St. you will find several other good choices as well. The Speak Easy is a great, tucked away spot upstairs near Light. Wet Willies is famous for their frozen drinks. Right off of E. Bay on Cumberland St. you will find Moe's Downtown, one of the best sports bars downtown with beer and wing specials. Social wine bar has a great happy hour and a large wine selection. Another quiet little spot on East Bay is the Gin Joint, drop in for a professional drink menu and experience. Also, there is one other place you might not want to miss. The Blind Tiger Pub is a little off the beaten path, travel south to Broad St. With live music almost every night and one of the most historic courtyards in the city, this should definitely be on your list!

-Upper King St. Area

Picture
Upper King begins at the intersection of King and Calhoun, right at Marion Square. This is the newest developed part of town. Ranging from great restaurants to the latest bar scene. Right across from the park, on Calhoun St actually, is Club Trio. One of the Hottest Spots in town on Friday and Saturday nights. Live Music downstairs, Dj's upstairs, and a bar out back on the patio. Just off the side of King, on John St, is one of the best seafood restaurants in the city, Coast. Sundays they offer half off Wines and Fish Taco specials. The best steak in town these days comes from Halls Chophouse. After dinner hours they offer a great high end bar experience. Just north, up the block, is MacIntosh and right upstairs with a rooftop patio is the Cocktail Club. Two great spots that cater to a professional crowd. Charleston Beerworks is just next door. Happy Hour 7 days a week and lots of big screen tv's as well as pool tables and a few games. The Belmont is a nice, quiet whiskey bar that makes all of their mixed drinks with freshly squeezed fruit. They also make a fantastic homemade pop tart! Torche Velvet Lounge has hookahs and features some of the city's most talented Dj's. Mercury Bar is the considered by many as the best new bar in town. Large area, upscale, and they have a huge patio in the back. Maybe you are looking for something a little different than the typical bar scene? Check out Charleston's newest downtown hobby... bowling at The Alley! This place is huge and is great for private parties. I also have one other suggestions for all you hipsters out there, The Recovery Room might be the best dive bar in town! All of these upper King Spots are great and convenient to the Butcher & Bee. These guys stay open after the bars close and have incredible food and its a BYOB atmosphere!
