What are the easiest ways to get around Charleston? Here are some suggestions...
-You can walk. Downtown Charleston is pretty small in comparison to a lot of other cities in the US. This is one of the characteristics that gives it so much of its charm. The majority of what you want to see and do is usually not more than just a few blocks from where you are staying. Of course, the cost of staying in a hotel downtown is more than some of the surrounding areas. If you are not planning to stay downtown, we would love for you to call us for your transportation. 90% of what you want to see or do is located on the peninsula. A free walking map for you to print has been provided below.
-You can use the CARTA public bus line. There are small fares for riders, but unfortunately the routes are somewhat limited and they can take much longer to get to your destination because of all the stops. We are providing the link here for you in case you want to give it a look. It is www.RideCarta.com They DO have a new addition to their Downtown Trolley line which is free for any rider. This free line was created when Carnival made Charleston one of it's home Port of Call's. It can be convenient for the Historic District as long as you have a flexible time schedule and don't mind waiting outdoors.
-You can call us! The South Carolina Bar Car is available daily starting at 9am.
